The Vision:
Chicks Like Us empowers women in our communities to realize their God-given potential in Jesus Christ, through leadership and mentoring. To help hurting women overcome fear through facilitating fellowship with mentors who share similar life stories.
The Plan:
To produce dynamic conferences with other women’s ministry leaders in your area that will raise women up to be bold, beautiful, fearless women of God. If you have caught our vision and want to share it with other women in your area contact us so we can partner in the vision.
Who:
Chicks Like Us is an inclusive network of likeminded women (a.k.a. Our “Peeps“) who simply want to make a difference and affect radical life change in hurting women through leadership and mentoring.
How:
CLU connects women all across the country with a variety of creative resources so that we can do life together yearly, monthly, weekly and daily.
- Yearly–Chicks connect on a very deep level in our one day conferences. We unite with other women’s ministry leaders in your area to bring the body of Christ together, and then produce a dynamic and memorable event that will grow your women’s ministry and reach hurting women in your community. If you don’t see an event scheduled near you, contact us to find out how easy it is to bring a CLU event to your area.
- Monthly–Chicks connect on a very deep level in our conferences, staying connected long after the conference ends in what some might consider a life group, or better yet a support group, a.k.a. a ”Chick Clique“ that connects on a local level. Contact us to help you start one in your area.
- Weekly–CLU produces Internet Radio Shows where we hear real life stories from women who inspire us and let us know that we are not alone in our life experiences.
- Daily–We harness the power of Facebook where we support and pray for each other in our CLU Prayer Warriors Group. Feel free to post prayer requests on our wall and join us for prayer in our chat room and follow us on Twitter for spontaneous updates.
The Results:
We have seen radical life change in women who have shared their story only one time in a public setting or on our radio show. Monthly CLU meetings have had a positive impact on the communities where they are meeting in KY and FL and more are beginning in other states like OH, MD and PA.
About Renee Martin:
Founder of CLU, Renee Martin, came to know Christ 25 years ago and was hungry for discipleship training (a.k.a. mentoring). In love with Jesus and full of zeal, but CLUless as to how to “Do Christianity” (live the Christian life, successfully), Renee started observing how others did it. After witnessing the overwhelming diversity within different denominations, much confusion set in. Renee spent years seeking out her own salvation with fear and trembling. Digging into the Word of God and searching out the truth for herself, she found that Christians actually come in all shapes and sizes. Depending on what denomination they grew up in, they talk, dress and worship somewhat differently. Which way is right? How do you worship correctly? Hands up? Hands down? How do you pray effectively? The Lord’s Prayer? A personal conversation with Jesus in the car on your way to work? How long is quiet time and does it have to be at 5:00 a.m.? What is journaling? Why journal? How do you witness? How do you lead someone to Christ? Questions, questions, questions!
CLU was borne out of Renee’s deep desire to know Christ, understand His Word and lead others to Him. It also grew as Renee developed very deep spiritual and emotional connections with women of all backgrounds across a nail table, where they did lifetogether…daily. (You know, you pay for the nails, the therapy is free. LOL) It was across that common denominator (a nail table) that Renee learned to overcome her own deepest fears and insecurities by being mentored and then later became a mentor to others. Renee discovered that women were all the same. We all just want to love and be loved, but some of us do crazy things to get that need met.
Renee’s lifelong dreams came true as she went on to sing on some of the world’s biggest stages with recording artists such as Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Patty Loveless, Pam Tillis, Billy Dean, Jessica Andrews and many others.
